Paul Edward Goldschmidt is a professional baseball player who plays for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball (MLB). In the 2009 MLB Draft, Goldschmidt was picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the eighth round and became the 246th overall pick. Goldschmidt made his MLB debut in 2011 and played for the Diamondbacks until 2018. In March 2019, he signed a five-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals and played for the team until the 2024 season, joining the New York Yankees in December 2024.

At the age 35, he became the ninth-oldest Divisional Era MVP and the oldest since Barry Bonds. Goldschmidt is a seven-time AL All-Star from 2013–2018 and in 2022. He won the Hank Aaron Award twice in 2013 and 2022, the Gold Glove award four times in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2021, and the Silver Slugger Award five times in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022. He has also represented the United States in the World Baseball Classic in 2017, winning a gold medal in 2017 and a silver medal in the 2023 Miami.
